The wort is pumped from the mash tun to the heat exchange manifold in the liquor tank via a 6144MM high temperature pump from MovingBrews . The pump has two 1/2"female NPT x 1/2" tube Swagelok fittings for the entrance and exit. Each is connected to either the mash tun drain or the heat exchange manifold using 1/2" SS tubing and more Swagelok SS fittings. The pump is rated for 250°F.

When buying a pump with a plastic impeller housing, buy one with male fittings. The thermoplastics (typically a 40% glass fiber reinforced PPS) that are used do not have enough elongation to handle an NPT type design. It's important to have the plastic fitting in a compression load.
